Grateful to be part of RV Homebase

“Maurice and I have lived in Victoria all our lives and had not really ever thought of moving anywhere else. All our family are still in Victoria. However, almost 6 years ago we began looking for an over 55 Lifestyle Village where we could downsize and store our 5th wheeler and leave our home securely locked up and go travelling for extended periods. We commenced our search near home, there were many options and one of them we almost committed to but realized our van would be out in the weather.

From there we went online searching for our ideal home – no luck. Location, quality of build, high density of the housing, surrounds, caravan storage facilities etc were not suitable or to our liking. THEN we came across an advertisement for a new Lifestyle Village on The Fraser Coast – “RV Homebase”. We also saw a write-up in the CMCA Magazine The Wanderer. “This looks exactly what we are looking for” – we both agreed. We arranged to fly up to Queensland to have a look, the warmer weather was also an attraction. We had an appointment with Anna Golden, Sales Consultant and were shown a display home, put a deposit down and were going to build a Palmer 3. It was amazing – what a fantastic concept, beautiful homes and amazing gardens and of course the huge garages for our van, tow vehicle, my car and numerous other possessions.

Time went by and I found myself facing the very real possibility that we would be leaving behind our 3 beautiful grandchildren, our son and daughter and all our friends and other relations. I couldn’t do it – even though I was assured it was only a plane flight away. So we made the decision to get our deposit refunded and cancel the dream.

Last year we sold our home in Victoria, put all our possessions in storage and took off on the trip of a lifetime around Australia – for us. As we travelled throughout Victoria we looked at homes and lifestyle villages in many country towns – we particularly liked The Murray River region. We just couldn’t find what we were looking for, there was nothing that even came close to RV Homebase in Tinana. As we got closer to the Queensland border our minds kept returning to RV Homebase.

Let’s just call in and have another look, we decided. So we made an appointment and stayed on the hardstand for 2 nights. We met with Kevin and were shown around the village. We couldn’t believe how it had grown. The gardens were beautiful, all the trees and green zones were immaculate, it just looked amazing and there was really only 1 block left that Maurice could see us taking. It was decision time and we did it. We were shown The Barcoo display home and loved everything about it. So we are now in Stage 9 and so happy to be here. We have spent most of our married life on a small hobby farm so having our new home backing on to the bush is a welcome extra benefit for us. The whole experience was amazing. If anything wasn’t to our liking, it was rectified pretty much straight away and without fuss. Everyone we have dealt with has been pleasant and helpful. We feel very blessed to be part of RV Homebase and hope to be here for many years. How lucky are we?”
